West Bend has a variety of activities offered to
the community. An outdoor swimming pool adds to the summertime opportunities,
with Red Cross swimming lessons offered each summer. West Bend's Summer
Recreation program also offers little league softball and baseball
for the children in the community. West Bend also has one of the finest
Summer Reading Programs nurtured by the Public Library with wonderful
reward trips, such as a trip to the Omaha Zoo.

The
Grotto Ice Rink provides the perfect setting for “children of
all ages” to enjoy an afternoon or evening of ice skating during
winter. Enjoy pick-up hockey with appropriate protective equipment.
There is a snack bar inside the warming house.

Golf

Situated just south of town, West
Bend Golf & Country Club offers a 9 hole course with a beautiful
view. Call (515) 887-6217 to reserve a tee time or for more information.
Camping

The Grotto campground offers 55 electrical hook-ups. The west campground has shower facilities, restrooms, dump station and water available (hydrant, not water hook-ups) and a shelter house. The north campground is accessible to rest rooms and playground and has a great view. You can pull through on most of the sites, so any size of RV can be accommodated. $15 a night for RVs with electrical hook-ups and $10 for tenters. Reservations are taken, but not required.
Within a 30-mile radius, there are eight fine golf
courses offering 90 holes of challenging entertainment. Call State
Park, Smith Lake, Five Island Lake, Lost Island Lake, Silver Lake,
and the West Fork of the Des Moines River offer camping and fishing
opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. West Bend is also located
only an hour away from the Iowa Great Lakes.
